Okay, that’s it. I’m over this inappropriately bitter, horrifically abusive windy cold. I’ve worn all of the winter-appropriate clothing in my closet that I actually like. A few key items have made the process far more exciting than normal (vintage long peacoat-style coat with abbreviated sleeves…which necessitated the purchase of long leather gloves, a pair of the most perfect dramatically wide, high-waisted, Katharine Hepburn-esque trousers), but the time for full-on daydreaming about spring and its clothing possibilities has arrived, people. And also, the time to win the lottery, because if I did, this impossibly lovely, creamy pink chiffon bit of loveliness would be high up on the list of spring wants/lusts.

Etsy is hands-down one of my favorite places to look for vintage online. Most everything is decently affordable, and while the small selection at shop Lucysvintagecloset is anything but, I can still drool over the incredible styling and photography.

A woman stepped into a Metro subway car over the weekend wearing a long, simple white column dress that appeared to have been made out of a sheet. It was as if she’d woken up next to her lover, gathered the bedsheet about her like women do only in movies to stand up, but then continued — pausing to wrap her hair in a purple headscarf — out the door and down, underneath the street. It struck me as incredibly chic, modern, and a bit mysterious, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since.

Marion Cotillard’s Lefranc Ferrand jumpsuit at Cannes has officially kicked my recent jumpsuit obsession into overdrive. Also loving the rockabilly-swoop hair mashed up with a classic french twist. Elegant and badass, all at once.

I fell for Kodachrome prints at last year’s Fotoweek DC. I love and want all of these. Via etsy.

I hosted a segment about spring essentials this morning on FOX5. Five essentials, to be exact. I talked about florals, having fun with color, lightweight scarves, cheery shift dresses, and footwear alternatives to flip-flops (a topic that will never die in this town). It was awesome, and the ladies who woke up early to model for it were hilarious and, most importantly, all on time (something I appreciate as a 15-minutes-late-as-standard person). Thanks to Nana, Treasury, and Bloomingdale’s for loaning clothes…and thanks to H&M and Urban Outfitters for having breezy return policies! Check out the segment here.
Afterward, I found fashion inspiration in the most unlikely of places: the FOX5 studio bathrooms! Neutrals teamed with a pop of neon or bright color – one of my current favorite trends for spring.
