I took this picture so long ago that I almost forgot about it. I took it when this blog was just a thought. I was still shy about stopping people and asking for their picture, but I sucked it up and stopped her.
We ended up having a really good conversation that I walked away from feeling really excited and energized for the blog. That’s one of the things I’m enjoying most about doing this: the act of stopping someone on the street can be so interesting, and it makes you feel more connected to the city and the people in it. As I’ve said a zillion times to people and some on this blog, Project Beltway is more about the people here and their personalities & style than it is about “fashion in DC.”
We were both getting off of the green line to Greenbelt. She had a great sense of color–her outfit was comprised of layers in different shades of gray with surprising accents of orangey-yellow. I found her on her blog the other day, Queen to Be. Her blog addresses a little bit of everything: life at Howard, faith, Barack, being a black woman, the stress of finding a job, etc.
One picture. But more than that, a peek into one Washingtonian life.
