The tenth District Sample Sale will take place March 29 from 5:30-9:30, and tickets just went on sale. It’s one of the most fun fashion events in town, not just for the awesome deals on gorgeous pieces from local boutiques, but for the sheer thrill of beating hundred of other women to that hidden gem on the racks at 90% off retail.
This spring’s event is taking place at 2101 L Street, a new location for the event, which means that without a doubt, this one will be bigger and better than ever.
Tickets are available here, and keep in mind that the more you spend on your ticket, the more access you’ll have to the best goods, a swag bag laden with goodies, and best of all, the more money will go directly to this season’s designated lucky local charity, E.L. Haynes Public Charter School.

Big ups to Rochelle Behrens, whose kinda-perfect no-gape shirts, aptly called The Shirt, are being featured rightthisminute (on the East Coast, at least) on the Oprah show. THE OPRAH SHOW YALL. I’ve been a fan of Rochelle and her designing skills since 2008, so I gladly volunteered to be a part of her current marketing campaign, which we shot last winter in Logan Circle. Who among us HASN’T wondered why somebody out there can’t figure out how to make these dang shirts not gape? For that, we – and our lady lumps – thank you, Rochelle. Available online here.

I’m very excited to announce Butler + Claypool, a growing styling and retail collective I’m a part of, along with some of some of the most talented, creative and fashionable women in town. We’re just getting started, but look out for more news and events coming your way in 2011. Special thanks to Karen at DC magazine for letting the world (or, at least, DC) know in this month’s issue, viewable online here.

My blogworld/realworld friend Amos gave up his identity as one of the two writers behind FamousDC, one of the local blogosphere’s best-kept secrets. It doesn’t really get more Washington-media-meta than this: two politically savvy PR/technology whiz kids start blog, build essential buzz for their brand via close media contacts and friends, many of whom likely also blog for them; become local media-technology heroes and continue on the up-and-up when they pitch their reveal to Washington’s most widely recognized magazine, Washingtonian. Check out my FamousDC here. (Michelle, my offer stands stands)
Congratulations on the years of success guys – stay Famous.
*good photo guys except, Amos, you kiiiimda look like you’re wearing earrings.

Thought I’d post the photos from the Fashion District show before we move on to other things. Here’s me hiding for no random reason underneath the giant, amazing fox fur capelet I wore the night of the show. Did I mention that it was AMAZING? Also check out the video ReadySet produced for the show that makes the whole thing look even more glam than it was (it was very cool and glam….that said, I changed in a supply closet). So you can get an idea of the styling of my outfit, I’m including some shots of me from the day I styled it up at Mercedes Bien (no makeup…oh well). More event pics after the jump!

ReadySet DC is throwing the fashion:district event tomorrow night at Stroga (which incidentally, is the most beautiful yoga studio I’ve ever seen) aaaand I’m “modeling” in it. Eeep. I’m trying not to feel intimidated by the willowy model-models who are also part of the show and know how to walk (most of the other models aren’t model-models, either, thankfully). I’m wearing clothes from one of my favorite local vintage boutiques, Mercedes Bien, and I had such a blast this Saturday picking out and styling my outfit (after I ate bacon-stuffed pancakes at The Diner). It’s a bit fifties, perfect for fall and I’m kiiind of in love with each and every piece. It’s feeling a bit like the fall 2010 Loius Vuitton show, very ladylike:

and I’m wearing a huge fox fur capelet that looks something like those that were shown at Dolce & Gabbana Fall09:

(it doesn’t look anything like that second pic, but I felt the need to post it. how amazing is that outfit, that photograph, everything?!??)
so. you can’t buy tickets at the door, and they sell out in less than 24 hours. so get one, and say hi!
