I have a habit of under-accessorizing, so I’m inspired by this woman’s colorful scarf and pretty beaded jewelry – all with a colorful but casual outfit. She bought the bracelet at the Life by Energy Holistic Center, which is upstairs from Redeem on 14th Street (don’t worry, I didn’t know about it either). I’m not sure if the necklace is available there or not, but I’ve seen similar styles at Urban Outfitters

Romper Room!

I’m in the current issue (June) of DC Magazine romping around in a romper!

What I’m wearing: silk Alexander Wang (pant, pant) romper, Alexander Wang razor-cut top, Julie Wolfe necklace, Jean-Michel Cazabat shoes, a Malababa clutch (it has big silver studs that you can’t see unfortunately) and some cool, very architectural Fallon bracelets.

I can’t say enough about how much fun I had doing this shoot, especially styling hair, the outfit and coming up with poses for the actual shoot. The attention and pampering didn’t hurt either: for once in what will probably be my entire life, I got to walk into Barneys Coop and pick out whatever I wanted (no, not to keep!), and I got my hair (Jacob) and makeup (Kari) done over at Erwin Gomez. Cheers to Jamie for shooting.

As we all know, rompers (or “combishorts” as a spread in French Glamour calls them) all the craze right now in fashion circles. But more than once, I’ve found myself explaining them thus: “you know, like, shorts and a top attached…kind of like babies wear…?”

Thanks to Cory and everyone over at the magazine for including me…you guys romp! er, rock!

She thought I was crazy since she’d bought this abbreviated maxi-style dress at the beach “years ago,” but it seems like everyone’s getting in on the big-flower train, from Banana to the breezy sheer tunic at Muleh I’d admired just before I snapped her photo.

This little eight year-old was holding court in front of a pretty large crowd in Georgetown over the weekend, playing (and singing!) classic rock favorites and The Star Spangled Banner. Check out the rocker stance and Chucks! I think Converse look good on boys of all ages – including my Sidewalk Style subject for this week.

I’m kinda done debating kaffiyeh-as-fashion (though I came across this just now and laughed), and anyway, I think this one looks to be sorta kaffiyeh, more tablecloth – in a cute, gingham-esque way. I’m liking all of the pattern and texture and color going on in her outfit, particularly in the vintage vest she’s wearing. Her friend was rocking a pair of perfectly faded, artfully rumply purple shorts.

Usually I only see women in outrageous hats on a Sunday, but she gets extra points for wearing hers during the week. If you’re gonna shine, you might as well sparkle.
