My Sidewalk Style subject this week was rocking the coolest Sonia Rykiel pants when I stopped her over the weekend. They had suspenders! Such a great menswear-inspired, relaxed-cool look.

Speaking of street style, did you all see the spread in this Saturday’s Washington Post? They’re going to be doing a monthly street-style spread, and the photographer is none other than Joshua Yospyn, who is one of the four fashion photographers showing in Flaunt this weekend. See you there!

It was sparkly, it was big, it had a bow. Upon rushing into Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas' office in the Cannon House Office Building on Inauguration Day (I had tickets, they did me no good), the first thing I saw on the television there was The Hat.

Aretha rocked the hell out of that song, and she rocked the hell out of that awesomely ridiculous church hat. Of course, I've been a fan of statement church hats from the beginning of the blog. So now that everyone's all aboard the huge hat train, a review of the bold, sartorial excellence that's been a celebrated tradition in our city's churches for years:

Washington/Fashion/Reflection

I took this photo back in late summer, just as retailers were displaying their first fall looks. At first I was annoyed that I was catching so much of the reflection from the window, but then I looked again and saw how the clothes and their colors, all in a row, echoed the rowhouses and businesses across the street.

Makes me think about how much has changed here in fashion, art, and politics. Washington is such an exciting and energizing place to be right now!
