I missed the Golden Globes over the weekend, and apparently the debut of this fantastic new video from Chrysler. From a marketing perspective, it touches on so many elements that resonate right now, in fashion and culturally – notably the appeal of nostalgia and times past, a certain back-to-basics sentiment, the rise of Americana/ “heritage” brands and vintage glamour. The use of Obama-like pacing (:26!) wasn’t an accident, either. Loving the messaging in this commercial and its desire to return to a time of unapologetic glamour, of dressing and acting like ladies and gentlemen. Now if only we could return to a time when cars looked as distinctively stylish as they did then.

Okay, that’s it. I’m over this inappropriately bitter, horrifically abusive windy cold. I’ve worn all of the winter-appropriate clothing in my closet that I actually like. A few key items have made the process far more exciting than normal (vintage long peacoat-style coat with abbreviated sleeves…which necessitated the purchase of long leather gloves, a pair of the most perfect dramatically wide, high-waisted, Katharine Hepburn-esque trousers), but the time for full-on daydreaming about spring and its clothing possibilities has arrived, people. And also, the time to win the lottery, because if I did, this impossibly lovely, creamy pink chiffon bit of loveliness would be high up on the list of spring wants/lusts.

Aqua is one of the satellite art fairs, and it’s held at the retro and breezily beachy Aqua Hotel. Each room is converted to a mini showroom, and you room-hop to discover choice work from galleries all over the country. In one room you might discover Austin’s GRG, and its lovely, friendly director Karen Light; next door might be M+B in LA and down the hall, Boston’s Robert Klein Gallery. And like every other experience in Miami that week, you’ll want to take photos of EVERYTHING: women wearing clothes that literally reflect the landscape (above, Prada), giant statues featuring male genitalia, art, art, art….
PICS after the jump.

On Monday during the obligatory office post-vacation catch-up, the commercial for Pajama Jeans came up – apparently something of a media blitz had begun while we were all floating in pools of eggnog and slugging it out on the couch (convenient timing, Pajama Jeans!). As much as I’d like to make fun of Pajama Jeans – a sort of democratic, every-girl, no-nonsense product – (jeggings for the Snuggie set!) and dismiss them entirely, I also have to admit that they’re actually sort of genius. They’re certainly not as fashiony as their more sleek n’ chic counterpart, but if part of the formula for succeeding in fashion today is saleability, the creators of the people’s jegging very may well be laughing all the way to the bank.

I have no idea what is being said, but I do know that the music and fantastical, sensory overload video for Bombay, by El Guincho, makes me deliriously happy. 2011 theme music…

Even if you aren’t an avid Rachel Zoe Project watcher, you can’t escape her Rachel-isms and near-patented boho look. Apparently her new obsession is having a baby, or not having a baby, or at least talking about the fact that everyone in Hollywood is sporting baby bumps. This parody video will have you laughing til you, you know, I Die.
