Shinola is about to take over #thistown with a pop-up at 1534 14th St. NW; they’ll open a permanent spot in the ‘hood later this winter. {via The Post*} Don’t miss the great shit-from-Shinola reference in paragraph six.

The Maurice Electric Warehouse space will transform into a bazaar-like journey through the best of on trend fashion. Nomad Yard//Old New Collectiv
What: A new collective of artists/creatives/retailers in a shared collective at the Union Art Building. Tour through the whole building this weekend to discover this and other spaces. There has been little buzz around this but the Nomad Yard space is right on the ground floor off New York Avenue and it looks awesome and chock-full of goodies. One of the founder is Tara Papanicolas, a stylist who used to run Alex, one of D.C.’s best early boutiques (it was way ahead of the curve and was located in an all-wrong spot downtown) that many new to the city will have never heard of. But it was legit and I think this will be, too.
Where: 411 NY Avenue–Union Arts Building

Meanwhile, across town:

When: Meet & greet 10-7 on Saturday.
Where: Hu’s Wear, 2906 M St. NW

Alice + Olivia Opening Party
WHAT: Alice + Olivia just opened in Georgetown. They’re having a party and you’re invited! Local DJ Ca$$idy (who I snapped/met for the first time in 2009…God I’m old). Soooo, you totally slept on buying up tickets to the Media Preview/first-bids session of the popular Gilt Warehouse Sale this weekend at Union Market. It’s ok. The same thing seems to happen to me for EVERY LIVE SHOW that ever happens in the D.C. Metro area because, well, some of us have jobs that don’t involve online stalking and continuous page refreshing.

But sometimes life throws you a hookup and that life-moment is NOW: I’m giving away tickets to one winner + a friend to ANY of the sessions listed below. That includes Friday’s sold out Media Preview session and the sold out session that evening! (You’re welcome).

To enter: leave a comment on this post letting the world know your best sale score, and indicate your preferred session. Be sure to indicate your email (not published) when you create your comment. I don’t care if you found a tan snakeskin YSL belt at a Goodwill for $2 (like I did. beat that.) or a reduction on a reduction on a reduction at Banana that you then wore as your wedding dress–shout it out!

The sessions:

+ Friday, Nov 14 from 7-9pm // Media Preview (Sold out)
+ Friday, Nov 14 from 9:30-11:30pm (Sold out)
+ Saturday, Nov 15 from 9-11am (Saturday session tickets here)
+ Saturday, Nov 15 from 11-1pm
+ Saturday, Nov 15 from 1-3pm
+ Saturday, Nov 15 from 3-5pm

Winner will be announced Thursday evening at/around 8 p.m. (I’ll update this post). Good luck and I can’t wait to live vicariously through your score stories!

WINNER: Alison of DC Celine, you win! Congrats!
