A friend of mine, Faisal Al-Juburi, used to be a DC-based nonprofit fundraiser and event badass and now he is a NYC-based nonprofit fundraiser and event badass. He is actually much more than that, and so to convey his talents he recently launched his namesake website, Faisal NYC.

He has worked with and for various arts organizations, nonprofits, private clients, authors, and many others, and the connective tissue between each of those experiences has been his knack for storytelling. The just-launched Tumblr that compliments his site is devoted to that subject, through both his voice and the voices of others, including yours truly (as well as our mutual friend and DC-based CNN correspondent Erin McPike).

I am honored to share the post I contributed, Four Ways to Create Your Personal Signature, which serves as a how-to guide to find your personal style “signature.” In it, I discuss Hillary’s pantsuits, Simon Doonan, blue shoes, and include far too many references to French-gamine appeal. I love the idea of creating a signature that has meaning to the wearer and that helps that person look and feel like the best, most powerful version of themselves. Read on for inspiration that will help you define your signature and tell the story about yourself that you want to tell.
