I’m planning on wearing a vintage coral skirt with a floral print that I got at a NYC thrift store for (ONLY) $10! I’ll probably match it with a simple white tshirt, a brown belt, a blazer, and some neutral wedges. I have yet to find any real vintage stores in DC, but I’m a big fan of Mustard Seed and Reddz in Bethesda!
OMG! Me me me! please? pretty please?
j
Jasmine, tell us about your fave vintage score/thrift shop!
I think I’ll probably wear my favorite go-to dress, a black V-neck Banana Republic outlet find from five years ago (still fits! yay!, and dress it up with my favorite vintage accessories – a pair of beautiful blue crystal earrings (thrifted for $8) and purple peep-toe heels! The color combo sounds weird, but I promise it works!
My favorite vintage store in DC is Meeps! Such beautiful (and well-edited) stuff. It helps it’s very convenient to my house. I loved The Remix when it was open on the hill, but sadly, it’s since closed.
Love the Textile Museum, seems like the event it going to be great!
This sounds like great fun! I’d been planning to go to the foreign film at the Avalon at 8PM next Wednesday, but will stop by beforehand. I won’t be wearing my best thrift shop score, however, because it’s a Chanel cashmere winter coat! I bought it for $50 in 1999 at a thrift shop that alas no longer exists in Greenwich, CT (of course!). The best source of vintage in DC used to be the Thrift Shop on P Street in Georgetown, back when they carried clothes. I still miss it!!
ooooh! i’m going to wear one of my great-grandmother’s TWO gold brocade mid-50′s dresses. one has 3/4 sleeves, a boatneck, MEGA circle skirt, which i’ll pop a colorful crinoline under. The other is VERY tailored, boatneck, sleeveless with a sleek pencil skirt, and a sheer (!) back. It begs to be worn with the Highest Heels Possible. oh, and a beehive. and red lipstick (duh). Likely going with dress #2, unless i find a REALLY great new colored crinoline for dress #1. I’m already living in autumn in my mind, so gold brocade is apropos, no?
and for DC thrifting i love Pretty People. and of course Butler and Claypool pop-ups
(see how good I am at buttering up?)
Shannon and Taurra, you each win a pair of tickets! I’ll email you shortly. Thanks to all for entering!
