Good Works.

Two charitable fashion events coming up ’round town. First, Heidi Hess, the 25 year-old (!!) owner of gorgeous new jewelry/art shop Poppy, is holding an auction event on Thursday to benefit the Capitol Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (my former employer of more than 3 meaningful years). Guests can drop by anytime starting at noon to place silent auction bids and then drop in on the party that evening from 6-9, when live bids for a commissioned piece as well as a private, catered dinner at the amazing “tree house” owned by architect Travis Price (when The Post wrote it up, I was utterly transfixed). How cool is that?! More details on the event here.

Also, the deadline for getting in on the $25 Downtown Shop Around cards supporting the Junior League’s literacy efforts was yesterday, so now they’ve gone up to $30. However, Jacqueline, one of the organizers, has offered to extend the $25 discount to you if you email her directly at jrfbourgeois[at] The cards entitle you to 20% off discounts all over the place (full list here), including Red Door Spas (hello, spring pedi!) and one of my favorite consignment shops, Secondhand Rose. Get the cards here.

And what is this fabulous sketch all about? It’s a hint at the event taking place at the end of the month that I’ve been busily organizing. I’m really excited about it. Stay tuned for details – you won’t want to miss it.
