I haven't forgotten about you all! While I gather my thoughts and resolutions for the coming year, I give you your reading list of fashionable reads and Washington fashion gossip. Here's what's happening, in fashion and Washington:

- Robin Givhan penned Gown & Country, in which she discusses the impact and importance of the inaugural gown and reveals eight new sketches she commissioned. Those featured (including Derek Lam, Lyn Devon, and Doo-Ri Chung) were selected with Michelle Obama's penchant for lesser-known designers in mind. To take it one step further, readers are being asked to submit original designs to the First Lady Formalwear contest no later than January 6. The winning design to be featured in the Style section. Now that's democracy!

- Michelle Obama will be in good fashion company with Social Secretary Desiree Rogers in the House. Canwejustsay that we are so excited for the upcoming administration and the deliciously fabulous White House glamour that will inevitably come with it?! le swoon.

- We here at Project Beltway love us some Cory and Valet, and so does Betsy, who also has the dish on Johanna's big win on Stylista (ee frikkin' KNEW she'd win). She's takin' those famously high heels to a new pad in Chelsea. Congratulations Johanna, you were meant for this.

- New Year's resolution: wear only glamorous underthings.

- "DC Socialite Media Mavens" organize a fashion shoot for themselves, featuring clothes from Bloomingdale's, with the hopes that the spread will be picked up by a local magazine or paper. There's one photo so far...but will these be as good as the lush "Social Studies" spread?

- Washingtonian.com has a new fashion column apropos of the times, called Frugal Fashionista.

- Anna Wintour, Bad Motherfucker.

- Model invitations for Fashion For Paws, the popular fashion show benefiting the Washington Humane Society, have been sent. These potential models, who must raise at least $3,000, must accept by January 1. Who will walk the runway in March? Here are photos from the 2007 event.
