A Few Shopping Ideas…
Thursday, December 11, 2008

If you end up in Bethesda tomorrow afternoon for the Boncompagni party, Ginger is just two shops down. Half off is pretty sweet.
If you're hunting for holiday gifts: there are some great craft fairs and markets going on today through the weekend. Of course, there is the huge Downtown Holiday Market, but um, it is outside. And it is cold outside. Here are a few that promise great gift ideas and are yay, indoors:

Off the Walls: the Corcoran College of Art + Design's annual art sale. Expect fine arts, jewelry, and ceramics made by Corcoran students, alumni, faculty, and staff….mine young and promising local talent to score unique gifts and original art on a budget. Perfect for beginning collectors. It starts tonight, which is perfect since you'll already be here for the Robin Givhan talk, yes?

The MICA Market: Through Saturday, students from The Maryland Institute College of Art showcase their wares, including homewares, art, and jewelry. This cute alphabet print is from Andrea Kalfas. Check it out if you're in or near Baltimore.

Craft Mutiny: On Saturday, local crafters team up for a mini-market at the Georgetown Design Within Reach (Cady's Alley). I like these feminine earrings from imogene for the girls and belts from John Wye (the brown and black polka-dot one, especially).
If you've had any successes or ideas for unique gifts, please share!
