Dreamy: Ruth Barzel
Friday, October 17, 2008

As I stirred Splenda into my coffee this morning at Caribou, I noticed a familiar song playing faintly in the background. It was Darden Smith's "The Levee Song," which I listened to on repeat (or ahem, rewind, as it it was probably a mixtape) during a dreamy summer trip to Italy following my eighth-grade graduation. Suddenly the memories came flooding back in all their youthful, yearning curiosity: a gorgeous man in linen shirt eating cherries on a street, the elegantly rumpled backpackers on a balmy overnight boat to Greece, the graceful lines of Michelangelo's David.
I can be a dreamer, if you can tell. Perhaps that's why I was drawn to local jewelry designer Ruth Barzel's new line that categorizes styles by the different sides we all have: Bombshell, Romantic, Rebel. The aquamarine "Dreamer" necklace above is adjustable with mixed-metal rings... also perfect for my "Indecisive" side. Ruth's featuring these styles at up to 50% off at a trunk show this weekend.

Um, that song is definately on NOW! That’s what I call hittin it! Vol. 2
It’s really the apex of my doing-it collection.
ANYway…That necklace is fantastic. It’s low key enough to not be considered a “statement” but it has a distinct look that can change an outfit just by putting it on. I LOVE jewelry like this. I sooo want to be at this trunk show!!
