Feel that nip in the air! Yesterday morning I headed off to the gym wearing my new lululemon Groove pants and matching top (what is it about cute gym clothes that makes you feel so.effing.cute?) and the chill made me realize that I don't have a nice warm jacket to wear over said matching outfit, and I certainly don't have one that matches and wicks sweat like nobody's business. I don't know how it is done, but I sweat a lot at the gym, barre classes and at the ONE hot yoga class I took with roomie Erin (don't do it. It's horrible.)...and when I'm in these clothes I am not wet. Anyway, I may have to look at the selection of jackets at the new Logan Circle store opening up this weekend (to the tune of free yoga classes and other events). Namaste!

I might be most excited about this news: Cath & Kata of Listopad have a permanent space! And it's within hidden gem Mercedes Bien (2423 18th Street, NW, Second Floor...next to Amsterdam Falafel), one of my favorite places in the city for vintage! So exciting. They're having an opening celebration this Saturday from 12-4 with cocktails, snacks and DJ Ris Richards. There will be tons of stuff for fall at recession (Depression Pt II?)-friendly prices.

If you swing in to Mercedes Bien/Listopad on Sunday, don't miss Crafty Bastards down the street. The outdoor festival would be tough to miss, really and it's a great place to pick up one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. I'm loving this "Vote" necklace (and this one, of course) from Brookadelphia.

A group of shops in Old Town Alexandria (including Treat, The Shoe Hive and Diva) have collaborated to form the Old Town Boutique District, a "collection of 19 enchanting shops in the walk-able historic streets of Alexandria, Virginia." To celebrate the launch, you can enter to win $1,900 in gift certificates just by visiting 10 of the shops this weekend. And you've been meaning to anyway, right?

Also over in that neck of the woods: Periwinkle's anniversary party. Drop in for refreshments, gift certificate drawings, free gift with purchase, and 10% off everything in the store.

Oh! And today Urban Chic in Georgetown is having a Milly trunk show from 3-7. That means 15% off the new fall collection, and you can view and pre-order winter for the same discount. Nab a free gift with purchase and cupcakes and bubbly. Across the street at Sugar, get 25% off all new fall collections and check out the goods from local jewelry designer Debrah Fabian. Bubbles and cupcakes there too (the bubbly and cupcake diet...hmm...).

Hi. Pure Barre here please!! Why doesn’t every gym on the face of the planet have an effing barre class!!! Most women I know grew up taking dance. Then once you’re out in the cold cruel world that outlet and form of exercise is not available! Grrrrrr!
Now, admittedly, I live in a tiny town that can barely sustain it’s local YMCA.

I agree – hot yoga is a hot mess. I absolutely hated it, but I love regular yoga (Studio Serenity) and I definitely want to try pure barre. You are the sweetest – see you this weekend ! Hearts, Cath
