Nature’s Prada….Lexington, Virginia

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Months ago, when I first viewed the Prada Fall 2008 RTW collection, I didn’t like it at all. All that heavy lace seemed so well, old. It seemed odd and fussy and I couldn’t help but imagine all the shiny, cheap lace that would hit lower-priced stores as a result.

But this weekend in Lexington (Virginia, for you newish readers), during one deliciously dreamy and solitary walk at dusk, I discovered the beauty and genius of this collection. There it was: sun dappling the trees in the woods, late afternoon shadows of trees on the road’s surface, Queen Anne’s lace. And this dramatic and stunning view: the inky black trees against the changing early-evening sky.

Won’t it be great if that’s where Prada really took their inspiration from? Great pictures.
