I'm heading down to Nashville in about a hour for my sister's bridal shower. I hear there's some great shopping turning up there, so pleaseplease drop me a line if you have suggestions! We're on a mission mainly for my mother, who needs a fashionable mother-of-the-bride outfit that's not frumpy, pastel, overly embellished or otherwise hideous. Basically, she's in the beginning stages of a what-to-wear freakout. I feel somewhat responsible for solving this!

Talk to yall next week...

This week’s column for Washingtonian is up! There are some major opinions swirling on the footwear they’re wearing. I don’t particularly care for mandals either, but I thought they looked really clean and sorta artsy on this guy.

Last week’s column is here, if you didn’t see that one.

A Must-Have Item: DSS Tickets

The Fall District Sample Sale is September 9!

Tickets for the Fall District Sample Sale went on sale yesterday, so if you haven't gotten yours yet, now's the time. I think I've been to this event every time (they're in the Spring and Fall) and at this point, I feel that it's pretty much essential to get a VIP ticket. It's just so worth it to have an entire hour to shop the racks in relative calm. I've got it all down now: I decide my spending budget and withdraw that amount in cash beforehand, have an idea of what wardrobe gaps I want to fill, and I wear what is basically a unitard with a wrap dress over it. At the Spring event, I had my final purchase in hand (a silk Tracy Reese dress) and was waiting to pay when the masses flooded in.

I've been a supporter of this event from the very beginning. I'm so proud of how the organizers have grown the event to not only up the ante for the charities they choose, but to continually make the event more exciting and glamorous for the attendees (sweet gift bags, awesome food & drinks, an incredible silent auction). The Fall beneficiary is the DC Rape Crisis Center, and as if helping sexually abused women wasn't already satisfying enough, the District Sample Sale Legacy Fund makes sure that past beneficiaries aren't forgotten: they will continue to receive a portion of proceeds each event. How great is that?!

where you'll get to shop.

See you there!

I was taken by Jesse's tough-but-pretty pieces in April of last year, and now REALM is back with a "couture" line. Each piece is one of a kind, so you'll be on top of an essential fall trend in a way that's truly yours.
