To Be Well Keeled.

This Even Keel trunk show couldn’t come at a better time for me, because I’ve recently decided that it’s time to get back into yoga, for a slew of reasons.

I grew up dancing and doing yoga (we never called it that, but that’s what it was…) but since college I haven’t done much of either, and really, I need to admit that I’m just making a donation to Results the Gym at this point. Nothing builds those solid “core” muscles better, which leads to great posture and strength and toning of the muscles you actually use. The best benefit of all of course is the mind-body serenity that’s becoming more and more essential as life gets more and more hectic.

Life boils down to the choices we make: the food we eat, the work we do, the friends we keep. This applies with clothing – wouldn’t we all love to have a closet filled with flattering things that make us look and feel energized, confident, and gorgeous?! In life, clothes and friends, what we surround ourselves with should make us feel happy and fulfilled. Truly great style comes from respecting the shape of our bodies, dressing ourselves in ways that make us look and feel incredible and unique, and tossing the rest.

To be well rounded both emotionally and physically is what I mean my “well keeled” in this post, and dammit if that’s not going to be my ANTHEM for the Spring. Life is too short for jerks and bad pants, no?

Wonderful talks with wonderful people (Ora!) have made me really GET this again, and I feel so refreshed by it. This Spring, I hope to make a commitment to the things that make me feel more like myself: reading, cooking, and laughing more, dancing and doing yoga, and spending quality time with my friends and family, who are precious and not to be taken advantage of. I’m off to Lexington this weekend (and can’t wait for Shake Rag again this year) for some rejuvenating by the rivers and mountains, but if you’re in town I suggest you stop by Wink for some even-keeling of your own.

These are the most comfortable pants to ever come near my legs! I love Even Keel – the price point is good too. I also appreciate the fact that they are made of natural organic materials IN THE USA. Talk about inspiration for to get my butt on the mat…
