The stylist for Dunkin Donuts is either a total idiot or a marketing genius (all press is good press?), I can’t decide. I might go with idiot though, because who *doesn’t* realize that a scarf even sorta-kinda resembling the kaffiyeh is controversial (here and here on PB) and therefore probably not appropriate for an ad campaign?
I’m not saying that I agree with Malkin, who’s responsible for this little sh*tstorm – but come on, couldn’t the stylist have gone with some other scarf…ANY other scarf?! Perhaps American Apparel’s colorful jersey knit, DvF’s colorful print. And if a political statement was in the cards, perhaps this tie-dyed, fringed version, aptly called “A Peace Treaty,” would have been the best choice.
All of this being said, anybody notice this bizarre headgear on Daily Candy Everywhere the other day?! Sic ’em, Malkin!
