Prom’s Best

I’m thrilled to say that my vote for best-dressed at this year’s White House Correspondent’s Association dinner goes not to a Hollywood starlet but to Washington’s own Katherine Bradley. She was positively radiant in Carolina Herrera’s printed yellow silk chiffon gown.
Saturday’s pre-party at the Washington Hilton was packed with stars with year (and dozens of squealing 12 year-olds). Style-wise, I think everyone stepped it up a bit from last year (here and here). Men had a bit more fun with tuxedo dressing; Tracy Ullman’s plus-one Bruce Wagner looked good. Not a lot of pattered vest or cummerbunds like some did last year, thankgawd, and I noticed a ton of interesting eyewear on men. Liya Kebede, who no one seemed to know, wore a satin off-the-shoulder Derek Lam gown with a train, and Padma Lakshmi wore a gorgeous one-shoulder aqua gown. Pamela Anderson looked like…well, Pam Anderson.
I snapped for Washingtonian this year, so click on over to see all the photos.

Hmmm…I love LOVE LOOOOOVE yellow, but I can’t say I’m crazy about this ensemble. Maybe it’s the lighting or something, but the draping just looks a bit off…then again, fashion is fickle. But very glad to see Tucker C back in a bow tie. Nice photos!
Rosario Dawson’s shoes!!!!! It took me a minute to understand what was going on with them but they are soo cool~!
The wind blew just as I took Katherine’s picture which explains the draping. Find the pic where she’s with her husband David and you can see the top much better. Trust: it was perfection.
Re: Rosario’s shoes, awesome right?! She was too. I emailed Jayne from Cap File (they were hosting her) and she’s pretty sure they’re Prada. Perfect thing for an outdoor brunch or event in general. Heels without the aerating the lawn.
Not Prada – those are definitely Marc Jacobs, the backwards shoes that were so talked about from his Spring 08 runway show.
Hmmm, the Washingtonian site doesn’t seem to work very well for me. I only get to view a few photos. And none of them have Rosario Dawson in them. I’m going to go pout now.
Men should not have “fun” with their tuxedos. Ack! It never looks good (as you say, patterned ties, etc.). Black bowtie, black vest or cumberbund, and peak or shawl SB or peak DB. End of story. And proper shoes. And have a shave for gawd’s sake.
