The Junior League of Washington is doing their second annual Downtown Shop Around week starting today until the 27th, primarily in Georgetown. How it works: you purchase a discount card for $30 through the Junior League, and that card entitles you to receive a 20% discount at various retailers. 100% of the proceeds support the group’s literacy initiatives. Full list of retailers here, including one or two e-commerce sites – helloo Gigi Favela – so you don’t even have to change out of your floordrobe gear!

Beyond the saving and do-gooding, it’ll be a fun weekend to be shopping or just people-watching in G Town: the annual Bookhill French Market is going on. But don’t forget to scoop up some vintage pieces at the Listopad event over at Marvin on 14th Street. While there, why not pop over to Circle? They just started to carry kids clothes (and are adorably referring to it as little circle) including this Harajuku Lovers tee. They’re offering 15% off when you spend $100 this weekend.

Floordrobe!

I feel like floordrobe had its moment in the sun, before it became such a shameful practice. Everyone on My So-Called Life had killer floordrobes, except maybe Ricky…but point being, it was not only *OK* to have a floordrobe, it was encouraged and most definitely associated with being cool.

On the Vintage Tip

I’m posting to say that according to a text message I just received from my friend Pamela (whose last name is Pressley, I adore that), everything at Annie Creamcheese is 15% off, including their sale stuff. While this didn’t especially sound like news to me since they always seems to be having a sale of some kind (last week they were in a flower power mood and gave 20% off to customers wearing something flowered…or buying something flowered), I am just digging the fact that someone sent me a text-tip. So there we go. I’m easy to please.

I try to stay away from Annie Creamcheese as much as possible since I CAN’T NOT buy at least one thing when I go. I picked up two great vintage jackets last time and wore one of them to The Sartorialist opening. Both are black and white, which comes to think of it, is often the case for the “yes” piles in my dressing rooms. Hm.

It’s also worth mentioning that AC just opened a store in Vegas (baby). The pic here is of the new storefront, and you can see others on their site which also features a pic of Annie with Wolfgang Puck there in Sin City wearing JUST the sort of necklace I’ve been needing to wear with a very cool brown flutter-sleeved dress I bought the other week at Meeps. I took it to Zips and had their alterations guy hack off easily half of the skirt to take it from maxi to mini. Voila, instant vintage update!

This graph above was inspired by those on this site which then birthed this site (this one’s for you Jasmine).

Anyway, this is dedicated to those walking the runway tomorrow night at Fashion for Paws. I won’t be on the runway as I didn’t realize the fundraising ins & outs (me: tickets can go toward a model’s goal? …ohhhhh!), soo maybe next time. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in their Spring Saks pretty and taking plenty of photos to share.

Off to go outside and play!

‘member our collective obsession with Pink Tartan? The time has come to see the Summer and Fall collections and try not to buy every adorable thing in stock. I just received the most adorable invitation for this event in the mail. See you all there, this weekend at Harriet Kassman…
