Georgetown shoe-whore haven Hu’s Shoes is offering 25% off all online purchases until Sunday. Enter the code “Happy Holidays” when you get to checkout to get the discount. I’ve been so good….
Now thru Dec. 25: Stop in to Pink November (in Georgetown at 1529 Wisconsin Ave. or U Street dangerously near the temptation that is Ben’s Chili Bowl), mention the code GD (“Glamorous Dresses” apparently, though I can think of funnier) and get $50 off any regular-priced dress. You can buy these there if you’ve been bad….

If you’re around U Street tonight, drop by Lettie Gooch for their How the Gooch Stole Christmas party for an 8:00 fashion show, 15% off all holiday dresses, and bubbly, natch! Things get swingin’ at 6. Be a lady and RSVP to shop@lettiegooch.com (include Gooch Stole XMas in the subject line and your name and number of guests in the body). If that’s too much typing, call them: (202) 332-4242.
Holiday shopping can be soooo stressful (I’m kind of kidding. Imagine me saying that in my best Paris-on-The-Simple-Life voice…). But seriously, life stresses me out. Sometimes a girl needs a chance to chill. And to get a free massage. If your Saturday plans lead you over towards Dupont, head into Tranquil Space Yoga for healthy snacks and a ton of female-powered goodies. Check out the full list right here. I’m not all that into babies really but this little tee in the middle from one vendor is darn cute.

If you still have your student ID, work it at the Washington Craft Show Friday, Saturday and Sunday (regular admission cost is $15, $13 for students and seniors).

If you’ve got some major cash to burn and don’t feel like tearing your hair out when you hear Mervis Diamond Importers commercials on the radio, attend one of the diamond trunk shows this weekend. And actually, I take that back. Jared commercials are worse: *forlorn sigh*…”I wonder when I’ll get one of those!” – “What, a pair of diamond earrings?” “No, a husband…like Brian!” Information and RSVP here.

If anyone’s curious, her pants and top are from Ann Taylor, her shoes are from Nine West and her coat is from Arden B. And her dog’s name is Cadence.

I could see myself in this sporty little number or this makes-you-look-dressed-without-trying top (my favorite category of clothing).

Dear Day Job,
Stop distracting me! I’d rather be writing about shoes.
Luv Hugs & Kisses,

My new haircut is inspired by Katie and this model, but the overall aesthetic I’m going for is impish, French adorableness a la Audrey Tatou in Amelie, one of my all-time favorite movies (also inspired this). I’m not sure how well I’m currently pulling this off, but it looks like longtime DC clothier Harriet Kassman has the goods I need to nail the look with this Catherine Andre collection. A friend described it as very French, a bit hippie, kind of like couture Anthropologie. She also described it as SO EFFING CUTE and I have to agree! Apparently not knock-your-socks-off pricey either.

I’ve been slacking a bit about passing along sales and such, so today you’re gonna get bombarded! The first is an opportunity to snag a gorgeous new party dress, bag, or whatever else tickles your fancy and support local business but it’s TODAY ONLY.

Last night J and I went to The Park for Capitol File’s party to celebrate their holiday issue and their cover girl Mira Sorvino. The Park is a pretty fantastic space — airy but not cold, and bars all over the place. Highlights included free beverages and their delish mini-burgers, showing off my new Verrieres & Sako dress and newly chopped ‘do (YES I DID IT AND I LOVE IT. better pic to come), ladies in pretty holidays dresses but especially Paul Sorvino singing “If I Loved You” to daughter Mira, who wore a simple black slip-style dress.
At around 9:15 we hopped back over to U Street to change and head over to the 9:30 Club to see the Cold War Kids, who were….just….mindblowingly good. Nathan Willett sounds like a cross between Jeff Buckley and Ryan Adams with a dash of Robert Plant. I am officially applying to be their band-aid.
