Wine, Women & Shoes…Yes, Yes & Yes.
Friday, October 12, 2007

I can’t wait to check out Wine Women & Shoes next week. It’s an annual event hosted by some of Washington’s most prominent women, among them Juleanna Glover, Debbie Dingell and Gloria Dittus and is supported by more than 90 members of Congress.
Wine, Women & Shoes chooses an organization to benefit each year; this year’s pick is the ONE Campaign, which you might know about because of Hill regular Bono. And Brad.
I’m excited to check out an event that seems to effectively fuse style and power in Washington. A lobbyist friend and I were at DC Coast for lunch yesterday talking about PB and how fascinatingly complex an idea “fashion in Washington” is. People in Washington, and women in particular, want to be taken seriously for their ideas and expertise, and so this often translates into less-than-fashionable choices. It’s exciting to see women like Nancy Pelosi changing things in this department — any political affiliations aside, she is powerful and not afraid to look good.
A room full of women enacting change in both the fashion and political arenas: Washington women at their best.
Check out the event details here.
