Project Beltway

Sooooo, yep….there I am!

As many of you all know already, I was named one of ten “Best-Dressed” women in Washingtonian magazine’s annual list! The issue came out a few weeks ago, but now you can see it online here (has anyone else noticed how good their site is these days?!).

Needless to say, I’m flattered by all of this and thrilled to have been included. And also now very paranoid about looking cute every day.

This has given Project Beltway all kinds of attention, and Project Beltway loves attention. It’s very weird being recognized on the street!

SO, a tour for all of you new eyes.
….Stay a while, scroll down, and keep looking.

xo,
Rachel

p.s. talk to me.

When you don’t post for a few days, I can’t get my daily dosage of people observing.

Congratulations Rachel great picture. You are gorgeous. I just love your site. Like I have said before I don’t know much about fashion but I do enjoy the different styles that you show. Keep up the great work and again congratulations you deserve it.

    Congratulations!

Watch out for some backbiting…I can imagine some of DC’s other fashion bloggers are literally green with envy (and oh so *%$#ing jealous) ;-)

TOM H …. you need to take it down a notch. You are about three posts away from living in the bushes outside Rachel’s house.
It’s ok to love … but let’s try not to be creepy shall we?

  12. Anon October 12, 2007 11:06 am

    Congratulations…

Very well deserved. The only DC blog that actually observes fashion and style on the streets of DC (good, bad, and indifferent).

    Please keep up the observations.

  18. jnm October 12, 2007 12:43 pm

One of the ten best dressed in Washington? Looks like the article says well dressed. Not sure how you could even quote best dressed when it says ten well dressed women. Seems a bit different.

  19. rachel October 12, 2007 12:48 pm

    jnm,
Yeah it’s weird — the title of the spread in the mag is basically “here are some well-dressed women.” But then under the author title it says, “to nominate someone for next year’s best-dressed list do xyz.” So, ?!

  20. StyleArbiter October 12, 2007 1:13 pm

Congratulations on being recognized by your local DC magazine.

Now I guess you can say you are peerless as a fashion blogger in DC, and the rest of them are mere also-rans!!

Hopefully, you have thick skin and can deal easily with the inevitable brickbats that will come from the loosing DC bloggers — its hard to imagine that they weren’t hoping for the same noteriety themselves!

Also-ran fashion bloggers are likely a bitchy lot!

Who knows, they may be burning you in effigy at this very moment ;-) Take care!

  21. AnnieWinter October 12, 2007 1:21 pm

    jnm

    Put the claws aways love.

10 out of 10 for your parsing of the magazine.

You clearly have an unsurpassed grasp of the English language. But really, dear is it necessary or, indeed, appropriate to make the correction in such a public forum, embarrassing the host. Surely not ;-)

Let’s try to be less pedantic in the future, and exhibit some better manners, at least when engaging in discourse with polite society. So undignified!!

  22. ACME October 12, 2007 1:24 pm

    Tom H….

Stop rising to the bait, for god’s sake!

  23. d. October 12, 2007 1:42 pm

Congratulations! I’m so happy for you!

  24. paul October 12, 2007 1:57 pm

I’ll cast the first vote for you being #1 of the 10 Best Dressed Women. (though Mmes. Trawick and Barnes are also inspiring)

keep up your standard of excellence, we love you!

  25. Cynthia October 12, 2007 2:06 pm

Congrats on your inclusion in the well-dressed feature.
I’m curious as to why StyleArbiter felt the need to bash other DC fashion bloggers while complimenting you. It seems so trite to try to pit women against each other, rather than recognizing them on their own merits, independently.

  26. TOM H October 12, 2007 2:13 pm

    Ok Acme….

  27. morgan October 12, 2007 3:46 pm

heyeee!!! congratulations lady, and great picture!

  28. Freida October 12, 2007 3:55 pm

Can you talk about the outfit you are wearing in the picture, where you bought each of the items? Thanks.

  29. brenna October 12, 2007 5:50 pm

congrats, rachie! i am SO proud of you!!!!

  30. jaja October 13, 2007 12:27 am

Kudos to you! This is one of my top blogs to surf. Did you have stylists for the Washingtonian piece or did you style yourselves? PS. I’m loving the nude pump.

  31. paul October 13, 2007 12:44 am

tell ‘em about the shoes rachel!

  32. rachel October 14, 2007 10:16 pm

    Gee…thanks guys.

Cynthia’s right on all counts…and really, we bloggers are a friendly bunch, generally and in one another’s company!

I’ll post about the outfit tomorrow or the next day.
