House Party, Columbia Heights

Someone in the comments today asked me about my hair….no, I didn’t cut it. Not only did I not cut my hair, I didn’t even make it over to R&R Hotel for STYLEistics! I ended up staying at a party Juleanna Glover gave (and like an idiot, left my camera in my car which I had left for the valet) and then went to another house party, where I took this picture of my friend Pete, who always looks amazing. Here he’s wearing a Seize sur Vingt shirt, a Banana Republic jacket, and a tie and pocket square from Barker Black.

This photo doesn’t really do Pete or his style justice, so I think PB will be back with a profile soon.

So. The fact that it’s Monday and my hair is as uninspired as it was on Friday has left me even more eager to go under the knife soon. If anyone has recommendations for local stylists who know what to do with wavy hair, I’d like to know.

I love Laurent at Ilo Day Spa in Georgetown. I have curly hair and he does an amazing job with my cut. He also gives a mean blow out.

I have another girlfriend with curly hair who loves him and another with wavy who allowed him to take her short and she is so happy with the cut.

Christian is also good there. Very good.

I didn’t know Lapo Elkann had moved to DC! He’s looking much better these days…

As for your hair, visit Victor at One80. He’s awesome. -the DCGF

    DCGF…..

Hurrah, at long last, someone who is genuinely conversant with fashion, style, and contemporary icons!!

I will browse your website from here on out. I’m impressed.

    StyleArbiter,

Really? The DC Goodwill Fashion site is cute I guess, but she’s simply repackaging stuff she learned from Style.com. And it’s really not about DC.

Why would you want to read some random chick’s half-baked thoughts on runway presentations she didn’t attend, written in a tone that gratingly suggests she has some insider track and an impressive stylist career under her belt?

It’s just not that hard to grab images of pretty clothes from the internet and talk about them. The Goodwill angle is a cool niche though.

I think this site has a unique perspective and a lot of cool growth potential. Rachel, some friends of mine met you this weekend and thought you were fantastic. I’d like to see more of your writing and thoughts!

Props to Pete for matchins such disparate patterns. That looks pretty good. And it’s a good lesson, guys, that not everything you wear need cost a grand. That BR jacket was (relatively) cheap I’m sure. And it looks good either because he can by RTW easy or he had it tailored (probably a bit of both). Then you pair it with some nice accessories.
