What type of bag is the girl on the left carrying? It looks fab.

That is a vintage (circa 1980′s) MCM bag. It is a German- made luxe brand of the 80′s that all of the Hip Hop stars and “gangsta’s girlfriends” wore. They used to run about $150 – $500 (about $300 -$700 in today’s money)….They are VERY rare and cost a pretty penny. Hers was handed down from her mother. :)

I love that dude. I see him all the time around 14th Street in Columbia Heights. You could do a blog just on him.

As I coasted down down 14th street this morning, I spotted a group of 4 high-schoolers doing the 80′s rejuvex-Reebok Pumps and Jordan Ones, dookie chains, stepped high-top fades and gumbys with lots of parts. Uhm, nah.

Seeing as this is how I was outfitted for much of my life, can’t say I’m a fan of its return. New York is overrun with the stuff, DC not so much. I blame Pharrell and others of his ilk. However, there is some benefit in the revival of BMX and freestyle bikes, skateboarding, and Thundercats. The rest can go. That means you too, U Street Throwback Guy.
