Modern English Hotness: The District Line Launch Party
Friday, September 21, 2007
I was thrilled to see so many men dressed as if they gave a damn at last night’s The District Line launch party. Pictures from the event here, including one of me (with some random guy) for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and apparently tie bars are the new black, guys. More examples of that later today, when I’ll post pictures from another soiree last night, DC Magazine’s second anniversary at Artefacto.

The Politico’s Helena Andrews & friend.

This chest belongs to William Field of Georgetown’s Field Custom Tailors. Marshall has tie in the store from him. Check out that tie clip – smart.

Garutachi Grace.

Me….and some guy.

Cigars on a silver platter a la Ted Baker London.

Marshall & Alishia Frey.

Me and my friend Faisal Al Juburi.

Love the pics Rach..you are so pretty..more pics of you dear……..pleaseeeeee?????
love the (vintage?) scarf, Rachel.
DAMN.
Someone posted a trying-to-be-snarky comment about me looking like Monica Lewinsky or something, and so I deleted it because of my basic “no comments that are attacks or that are destructive” policy, but then I thought of a comeback. Like after I deleted it. Kind of like thinking of what you’d say in hindsight after an argument. Just thought that was funny.
I think Rachel looked like a hot 60s airline stewardess with that scarf!
Tie bars: gone next season. They took thirty five years to come back, so they’ll be back again… 2042? It’s like desert boots and them are the Hale-Bopp of men’s fashion…
Okay, I’ll admit it: if I was into skinny ties and/or mod fashion I’d probably gank one of my father’s… To wear at work. Who wears a tie when they’re not at work?
Oh yeah, weddings and funerals.
But not out on the town. Where’s the spezzatura in this burg?
Another example of the difference between men’s style and fashion. Tie-bars are currently in fashion. I never go a day without a tie-bar. Besides looking smart, it’s functional. I was wearing one years ago and I’ll keep wearing one. Why? I like the look and it fits my style (not the skinny-tie look).

Very nice pictures, particularly of Ms. Andrews and her friend. They make a cute couple.
