Because you’ve capitalized “Sartorialist,” I can only assume you’re comparing him to *the* Sartorialist, Scott Schuman, yes?
If that’s so, I’m confused, because he and this young man certainly don’t share the same fashion sense — does the comparison stem from a similar profession?
That aside, I do like the jeans. I wear my black skinnys at least three times a week.

No–just as a reference to someone interested in fashion and style. He definitely doesn’t dress like Scott Schuman! A similar profession…..?! He’s like 12! ( ;
Also, I had the song “Young Americans” stuck in my head and that was part of the play-on-words for the title.
I just loved everything about this kid–his obvious interest in style (paired with braces!) at such a young age, his stance and expression in the picture.
Judging from the background, maybe he was coming from that new skate shop, “Paradise Five” (I think that’s the name, they don’t have a website). The interior is really nice, with the shoes and decks displayed like art.
Welcome back widespread skate culture.

He looks just like the oldest brother in Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. Awesome.

Where is that new skate shop located? We’ve been waiting for something like that to open in DC.
-Thanks

Those interested in skate/sneaker culture locally might find this interesting (though it’s definitely written for an “outside” audience that doesn’t participate in it). There are two pages of the article so you have to click to get to 2: http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20070817/ENTERTAINMENT/108170039/1022
the shop is on 14th st between florida and V. I think the address is something like, 2216 and 2220…
there is a website, but it’s not fully developled…
it’s palacefive.com or palace5.com
hope that helps!

Max just turned 13 this month.
And he’s my favorite grandson!

12? Really? They certainly didn’t make ‘em like that when I was in middle school!
Hi know! He’s going to break a lot of hearts.
Max, tell us your age if you’re reading! All the ladies wanna know…
Poor guy looks nervous.
Smile and relax!
Reminds me of being that age too:
Vans
Skateboarding
Ska
Ahhh, those were the early 80s days.

Yeah he definitely does not look 12, but okay.
Even though his pose is awkward, I can see his budding inner-fashionisto.
Congratulations. How nice to see your beautiful face and there is no scandalous behavious associated with any of it.
Hope you have a great school year.

His awkwardness is what makes the photograph!
It captures him at that precious moment, teetering between childhood and adulthood. Great image.
