I think it's fair to say what you think works or doesn't work about an outfit. It's NOT ok to disparage the person--we don't know anything about the people in the pics on this site. Personal attacks on strangers are not acceptable--and not fair, since the people you attack here cannot defend themselves.

The nasty comment business is rampant on the internet and no one has figured out 1) why people do it and 2) how to stop it.

As to this outfit, I don't care for pink on men (or to excess on women), but it is cute that the socks and shirt match. It's good to see a man trying to liven up his wardrobe within the constraints of looking presentable in this town.

his sleeves are too long and poofy. his pants look really horrible, maybe its just his body shape, they could be more slim fitting for sure.

get your shirts and pants fitted and tailored properly!

and pink socks?! you gotta be kidding me..

Y'know, rdhd, I don't disagree with you, it's the approach. I guess I'd focus on what he did right and leave the rest unsaid. For instance, (not) check where the sleeve meets the body of the shirt. The guy's swimming in his shirt...

And here's the deal. I'm on the train Friday, and I'm in work clothes which that day was a blue Sulka suit with BROWN shoes to match its tannish pinstrips, and the rest I guess was also put together because some guy comes up to me and asks if he can take a picture of what I'm wearing and I said absolutely not. Not because I didn't agree with what he said about what I was wearing, but because I knew if it wound up on a place like this someone would have found something to criticize, and I didn't want to deal with it if/when it got back to me.

Reading some comments here why would anyone?

Of course my girlfriend said later on he may have been just cruising me...

I agree with rdhd on this one -- light pink begs for a brown complement, not a black one.

I prefer red, but then again, I have my reasons...

Sorry, but for me "making an effort" rates only above simply dressing appropriately.

The only thing I criticized are his shoes. I would have worn brown suede. I also said that I like his socks. I'll add that his trousers look to be a nice shade of blue. How's that?

His shoes still suck.

Wow rdhd, now I know that women have nothing on men in criticizing strangers for should'a-rules.

It's so rare that a guy in this town makes the effort at all without the self-appointed's going all parochial on them.

The guy made the effort and paid attention to some of the details. Give him some props for it.

Just for clarification, a "button down" shirt refers to the collar, not the button front.

The button down is just...oh, I don't know, everywhere. Very trad. It can look good, but seldom does.
