Peek-a-Boo, Georgetown

The black-and pink bra peeking out was intentional–a way to add a little spice to the sugar. She had the confidence to pull it off.

Could you please elaborate on the focus of your blog? At first I thought it was going to be similar to The Sartorialist but then your postings aren’t as frequent as his and he poses questions for feedback while you just put photos up and leave it at that.
Also, you seem to mainly take photos in Georgetown and on U Street. Please try to expand your postings to Capitol Hill, downtown and maybe even some sporting events at RFK. It would be awesome to get a full range of outfits from around the city.
Lighten up. The focus of her blog is photos with comments. It’s fun – and so often I see someone on the street and wish that Rachel was nearby to get a picture.
If you want a full range of photos from around the city, then go take photos. As is, she gets around pretty well.
I agree with K Rachel does a great job getting around and I love her blog….keep up the great work Rach……
Rena,
That’s OK–sometimes I wonder what its focus is too. ( :
I’m definitely inspired by what I see “on the street” (sure, Bill Cunningham & The Sartorialist come to mind) and so taking street-style photos has been enormously interesting. It’s a great way to meet people and play anthropologist, plus I think most “normal” people want style inspiration and advice from *other* normal people. I hope that people who read this blog will be inspired by the people they see on the site, or at least be inspired by the concept enough to walk up to a sartorial stranger and ask him or her about their look.
But as you’ve seen, it’s not just a street-style site. I started it off that way, but quickly realized that there needs to be other/more content. So I’ve been dabbling in interviews, product features and other ramblings (including the occasional drunk-post…I swear it’s the new drunk-dial). I have a lot of ideas, and you’ll see things changing and evolving as I go. I’m really interested in hearing what you all think more than anything. I’ve gotten some feedback from a few people wishing that I’d include names/ages/outfit info or something personal about the people on the street, so I’m planning on *trying* to do that from now on. I might do a survey at some point.
And you’re right, I so tend to take a lot of photos in some of the same places–it’s tough not being able to get all over the city. Often life (including having a day job) just doesn’t get me to the Hill or RFK as much as I’d like (uhhh…sports? what are THOSE??). But I will try harder. In the meantime, keep giving me your ideas and suggestions!
I’m going to hold back here and only comment on the fact that her bra is showing both in the front and back. To me, if you’re pulling that kind of “style” in the middle of the day in tandem with a mini dress *and* four-inch heels (I don’t count wedges as heels, but you know what I mean), you’re looking more for attention than anything else.
She’s a cute girl but sorry, not a fan.
I’m with Johanna. If she wasn’t so cute or if she had ample cleavage she’d look like total trash in that outfit. As it is she sort of pulls it off but it looks a bit costumey. And I don’t think there can ever be good justification for exposed underwear.
Come to the southern quadrants! I live in SW and work a few blocks away in SE, and there are the most stylish black girls in that neighborhood. I mean outfits and hairstyles that make me go “wow!” and stare at them as they walk down the street. That rarely happens when I’m in Georgetown or U Street or anywhere in NW.
seriously??? ok, the dress is cute. but it’s short. combined with the wacky tacky espadrilles, and a bra hanging out… it doesn’t work. ESPECIALLY in georgetown.
You know what she reminds me of: those Japanese Gothic Lolita girls, a little sweet, a lot dark but nowhere near as structured and more street appropriate.
lookie here
adorable
Svetlana–
YES.
Have to agree with arlington on this one. Although I’m quite adorable myself, this D cup would get a 5 spot stuffed in my straps if I wore that out…
I would love to work with you as a model..check me out on the site.
