Mercedes Bien is still a pretty under-the-radar vintage shop located in Adams Morgan. And like many under-the-radar finds, you’re bound to score something awesome and unique when the tiny shop opens its doors this Thursday to reveal goodies from Moschino, Fendi, Pucci, Lily Pulitzer, Lacoste, Whiting and Davis and YSL.

Mercedes Bien Vintage
Open Saturdays 12-6, Sundays 12-5
2423 18th St (second floor, above old “DCCD” space), next to Amsterdam Falafel

This was the night that ended with me & roomie saddling up to the McDonald’s walk-up window…at 5:00 AM. McDonald’s tastes really really good when the sun’s coming up and you had Jameson’s for dinner.

She is in town from Italy studying at Georgetown University. The fabric and construction of her (Italian) vintagey top was the thing that made me stop her.

I love that she clearly thought about what she was going to put on that day, but made it look totally effortless. Some girls very obviously follow trends and end up looking like their clothes are wearing them; her easy style seems innate and as a result she looks cool without being upstaged by her clothes.

I steer clear of shorts because they don’t look very good on me, so of course I find myself attracted to taking pictures of women who can pull off the style.

I love her bright, vaguely vintage-looking pleated top–which is just blousy enough–and the piles of bold gold jewelry.
