Another one for the Fun Hair Files
Friday, June 29, 2007

I’m so transparent; at this point it’s pretty obvious that I love cool hair (“hair as accesory!” is one of my favorite turns of phrase for the blog anyway) and I think it applies to Kimberly Nathaniel here, a Design Consultant for Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams on 14th Street. I noticed her hair first and then her dress, which turned out to have the most adorable peaked puffy shoulders.
And how about that mystery photo essay in the background there. It’s right around 14 & T. Anyone know what the deal with that is–who did it??

i live a few doors down from this mural. i saw a young man putting it up just the other day, and saw a small crowd watch him do it, but i dont know the details. that building was bought a couple of years ago for $10 mil and they were supposed to turn it in to rental apartments. unfortunately, the owners concluded, based on other neighborhood real estate ventures, that rental units would not be sufficiently profitable, so as a result, the building has been sitting empty for a very long time. and at such a great location! it’s a total waste. i’m eager for them to do something useful with it.
have you heard about what’s going in on the other side of that intersection? (catty-corner from st ex.) it should be good!
love the neighborhood gossip!
etcetera,
no, I haven’t heard what they’re doing near st. ex–do tell! or email me if it’s under wraps for some reason. this is my ‘hood as well & love knowing what’s going on…
Please fill us in on the neighborhood!
The woman has that wonderful, thick hair needed to pull off a natural. Her confidence comes through in this shot. Good job.
this isn’t fun hair–it’s black hair! not that black hair cannot be fun…
Her hair is ubber nice, her skin is flawless and those brows are to die for.
Whatever@Jaja’s lame comment.
Thanks for the compliments! And thank you Rachel, I wasn’t feeling cute that day till you stopped me…

I don’t think she meant to be lame with her comment. As a Black woman with natural hair, I think what Jaja meant is that the young lady in the picture really hadn’t done anything “fun” with her hair – it’s just the natural texture of her hair. It’s just the way her hair is. I get complimented a lot on my hair, which I appreciate, but people always ask things like “How did you get it to do that?” and I’m always confused. Umm … I washed it, put some leave-in conditioner in it and kept it moving. Nothing extraordinary.
Perfect eyebrows too I might add
