Think Runway, Shop Beltway: Diva Boutique
Thursday, March 15, 2007

After a totally bizarre and hardly welcoming experience at the King Street boutique An American in Paris (you’re not allowed to touch the clothing there…I am not kidding), I stumbled upon a delightful new boutique, not far from the equally delightful Restaurant Eve, called Diva. Despite the name, the consignment mecca offers fabulous, gently worn designer finds for women at very “un-diva” prices and with no diva attitude. Diva only opened a few months ago and it’s so good I almost don’t want to let the cat out of the bag!
You can expect a warm welcome at this sunny boutique, nestled in a cheery rowhouse right off the King Street drag. You can also expect brands such as Trina Turk, Milly, Diane von Furstenberg, Tori Burch, David Meister, Miu Miu, Catherine Malandrino, and Prada–many never or barely worn. I recently snagged a perfect spring jacket by Moschino Cheap & Chic for $50.
Look out for an interview with owner Cindy McCartney soon!

Milly black strapless cocktail dress with gathered tulle
Size 10 (fits more like a 6-8)
$192

Etro dress
Size 38 (4-6)
$198
These items are available now unless some other lucky fashionista gets in there before you do. And really, these dresses seem to be as pricey as the store gets.
Owner Cindy McCartney and her crew are throwing a St. Patrick’s Day soiree tomorrow evening (her last name is McCartney after all!) at 7:00…information below!

I’ve been to that store too. I wonder how she stays in business. She is so rude and bizarre. The other store sounds cute. I’m still very bummed that they closed A La Leila. It was such a cute boutique. I’ll have to head down to Old Town to check out Diva.
I have some things there. They’re great and have some great finds! American in Paris is very odd – I haven’t been back since you practically felt me up.
Whoops!!! I meant since “she” practically felt me up. Surfing blogs w. stolis clearly don’t mix..
I’ve been curious about going into American In Paris, but now that I’ve seen your blog I definently will not.
I will check out Diva
I moved to Alexandria after living in Logan Circle and being used to shopping in the U Street area; the shopping experience in Old Town has some odd moments. I don’t know what it is but the sales people tend to be more obnoxious towards you in Old Town if you are not dressed like some rich preppy.
