Spring Has a Shoe Fetish
Friday, March 30, 2007
Spring has officially sprung; are your toes sandal-ready?! A few boutiques are parading out their Spring styles and want you to come and celebrate the return of warm weather and attractive shoes. Bye-bye winter boots!
Head over to Caramel on U Street for their Lefawn Speight trunk show to view the sexy, Italian-made shoes and gorge on the cubes of chewy caramel they always seem to have on hand. 6:00-9:00 p.m. 1630 U Street, NW.

Sassanova is also hosting what you could call a trunk show, but maybe it’s more of a Winnebego show than anything else! They’ll welcome Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS shoes, which donates a pair of shoes to a needy child when you buy one. I’m bummed that I’ll miss this, because I think the idea is awesome, and plus I’m kind of obsessed with these ugly-cool hand-painted, limited-edition TOMS. I want them to kick around in over the weekend!
5:00-7:00 p.m. 1641 Wisconsin Ave. NW

Ok, THAT’s IT, this is a parody blog. There is NO WAY that I can actually think this is real. Unless Doctor Who has transported be to the East End circa 1983 without me knowing it.
Losers. All of you.
I have to say, I agree with the B*tch. That is a really ugly shoe. Really ugly. Your eye for fashion is quite scary.
Ugly-Cool indeed. I would have to pass. This is like when Mischa Barton told me Keds were cool again. I didn’t buy that either.
Actually cute…would need to be selectively incorporated. Black Susana Monaco tube dress, chunky lucite necklace…red or blue. Solid! Good pick Rachel.
BBTY- I’m sure the Gap or Wet Seal has something you could wear with these…
GT- right as usual!
I have a pair of Toms in navy – *all* navy – and they’re just okay. Not my favorite flats, not my most comfortable flats, but sometimes I reach for them when I’m walking to my friend’s rooftop pool on a summer Sunday or when I go to upstate Michigan for a week in August.
Even though they’re not me, I envy the person who could pull these off – maybe Rosario Dawson in a pair of black skinny jeans and a red Rachel Pally tee?
What I don’t get about all these Rachel-haters is why they keep coming back and why they insist on telling her she’s so awful. Why don’t you all just move on to another site?
I think TOMS are fab…comfortable, fashion forward, AND the proceeds go toward a good cause. Plus they were featured in a recent issue of Vogue. Good find Rachel!
I’d love to wear these shoes with my piano key necktie.
